Immunotec

Immunotec

When one first encounters Immunotec, the very first thing that comes to mind is oh boy, not another nutritional supplement product via the MLM business model!

But Wait – Does This Company Have an Edge?

Sure enough, all the familiar faces are there: health & wellness products, a weight management line, claims to better health, and finally a network of independent distributors to move the product around the world.

But Immunotec has something all the others don't have, and that's a listing in the Physicians' Desk Reference (PDR) as well as the Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS).

That's like being listed in the Who's Who of nutritional products. It means doctors prescribe Immunotec products…or at least their flagship product, Immunocal®.

What else does Immunotec have? Take a look…

The Company

Immunotec has been around for a really long time (over 40 years) and as you know by now, we like that. Their company is product-driven, having started out with a product rather than a business idea.

The current CEO, Charles L. Orr, was Executive Director of the Direct Selling Education Foundation for 4 years. He also has received the Circle of Honor Award from the DSA, as well as their Hall of Fame award. This is is golden, as far a direct selling CEO material goes.

The VP/Chief Financial Officer is equally impressive, but in the world of biology & finance. I could go on but hopefully you get the idea: impressive management.

Immunotec is a publicly traded company (IMM) and therefore its financials are open to public inspection. I, however, am not schooled in analyzing financial reports so I'm just going to assume that 40 years in business means they're doing something right.

The Products

There are a lot of products to sell, and they cost a nice hefty sum, for the most part. For example, a six-pack of “Cherry Concentrate” costs $280 retail. That's between $50 and $60 per bottle! And it's just cherry concentrate…no super nutrients are packed in, other than what occurs naturally in the Montmorency Tart Cherry, which has been clinically studied to produce wonderful health benefits.

Immunocal®, the flagship product, is patented and offers natural whey protein that aids your immune system. Doctors in Canada and the US really do use it for their patients and is recognized by leading doctors and researchers for its beneficial effects on the immune system. The cost is $99 for a 30-day supply (30 pouches).

The Compensation Plan

Become an independent business owner with Immunotec and generate income on your own customer base as well as purchases made by the people you bring into the fold. In addition, there are bonuses to be earned once you start seeing some real sales from your own efforts and from those of your team.

Retail sales earn you money because you purchase at wholesale prices and sell at retail, making a nice 30%.

Get your customers a 20% discount on products by signing them up for AutoShip and you get to keep the difference between what you paid and what they pay. You earn wholesale profit of 10% of their AutoShip orders.

Sponsor someone and earn up to 20% of their initial inventory purchase.

The Verdict

Everything does seem to check out with Immunocal: the company has longevity, science, respectability, and shareholder support going for it. The fact that doctors prescribe the flagship product speaks wonders for its efficacy, safety, and respectability.

However, if Immunical® has been around for 40 years and it's listed in the PDR, then what's going to make doctors buy it from you? In other words, the Doctor market might already be all tied up and sealed against you (you're a little late to the party on that one).

But if you can take that “doctor proof”, which is sort of like “social proof”, and turn it into that magic sales element we all need, then maybe Immunotec is for you. The buy-in is a starter pack and putting yourself on AutoShip. At the very least, you'll have a bunch of product to consume but that's no great loss. It's not the worst opportunity out there, and the product has definite cache in the medical world.
