Oriflame is one of the largest multilevel marketing companies on the planet. Using a network of over 2.2 million salespeople around the world, Oriflame sells a wide range of cosmetic products, including lip balms, makeups, and perfumes.
One of the interesting parts about Oriflame is that it has no major base in North America. It doesn’t cater to customers in the United States or Canada, for example. It does, however, sell products throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
How does Oriflame work? What do they sell? Can you actually make thousands of Euros or pounds each month selling Oriflame products? Today, we’re going to answer all of these questions in our Oriflame review.
History of Oriflame
In the world of multilevel marketing, companies rise and fall very quickly. It’s not unusual for a company to launch, reach its peak within 3 to 5 years, and then disappear, never to be heard from again.
That’s not the case with Oriflame. Oriflame was launched in Sweden in 1967. Today, it operates in 60 countries around the world and brings in annual sales of $2.2 billion. It’s also a publically traded company listed on the NASDAQ OMX Stockholm since 2004.
The name “Oriflame” is a play on words of “Oriflamme”, which is Latin for “golden flame.” In French, oriflamme has come to mean any banner with pointed ends which is somewhat associated with the original oriflamme, which was used by Louis VI in 1124 and was last flown at the tragic battle of Agincourt in 1415.
Why did Oriflame decide to use the Latin name for a medieval French banner as its name? Your guess is as good as mine. But it certainly makes for an interesting story.
What Does Oriflame Sell?
Oriflame sells hundreds of different products. Its products can be broken down into six broad categories, including:

Each category features products designed for men, women, and children of all different age groups.
There are also certain areas of specialization within each category, which we’ll talk about below.
Oriflame Products
Skin Care:
For skin care products, Oriflame particularly focuses on anti-aging, anti-cellulite, and moisturizing creams. These creams are designed to alleviate wrinkles and reduce the effects of aging.
Colour Cosmetics:
For color cosmetics, Oriflame focuses on three distinct categories of products, including Very Me, Oriflame Beauty, and Giordani Gold. Very Me is targeted towards the younger generation and features distinctive styles and competitive prices. Oriflame Beauty combines the most advanced formulas with “high performance makeup” to give women a “stylish, urban edge.” Finally, Giordani Gold “represents affordable luxury” and “embodies the art of feminine sophistication.”
Fragrances:
Oriflame’s lineup of fragrances includes four distinct categories: Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Limited Life. The first three categories are self-explanatory, and the last category includes fragrances only available for brief periods of time throughout the year.
Personal & Hair Care:
This category includes a wide variety of body care, hair care, oral hygiene, foot care, hand care, baby care, and bath and shower products. This extensive range of products is designed to help anyone feel clean, refreshed, healthy, and pampered while also ensuring anyone can obtain the hair they desire.
Accessories:
Oriflame sells a diverse range of accessories, including jewelry, sunglasses, handbags, watches, cosmetic accessories, home decorations, and gifts. There are also accessories and gifts specifically targeted towards men and children.
Wellness:
The Wellness category is relatively new at Oriflame. It features three different products: a Natural Balance Shake, and Wellness Packs for both men and women. The Natural Balance shake uses natural ingredients or promote healthy weight loss and provide sustained energy without sugar cravings.
The Wellness Pack for women features skin moisturizing ingredients in encapsulated form along with a blend of vitamins, minerals, and omega 3 fatty acids. Finally, the men’s Wellness Pack contains a type of Swedish algae which boosts muscle performance and endurance while also healing the skin. Other ingredients include essential vitamins and minerals and omega 3 fatty acids.
Oriflame’s Commission Structure
Just like with all multilevel marketing companies, there are two ways to make money: sell products to people, or invite people to sell products on your behalf.
If you’re selling products directly to people, you simply show them an Oriflame catalogue. This catalogue features a 20% markup on all Oriflame products. In other words, if you purchased a product for $75 from Oriflame, your catalog will list that product at a price of $90.
If you’re inviting others to joint your network, you’ll earn commission from the sales of all the members in your group.
Here’s how the commission rates break down:
— Orders for products $75+ = 23% commission
— Orders for products $190+ = 30% commission + Free product
— Orders for products $910+ = 35% commission + 4 free products
Let’s say someone orders $190 of Oriflame products from you. You earn $57, or 30% x $190.
There are also interesting bonus incentives. New consultants earn two free gifts when they join the company, and your second order worth over $190 comes with a free “Mystery Pack” valued at $60.
There are also three different levels in the company, including Consultant, Elite Consultant, and Senior Consultant, with the latter two groups getting an additional 5% off all product purchases.
Conclusion: Who Should Join Oriflame?
The vast majority of the world’s multilevel marketing companies are based in the United States. Oriflame is the only major multilevel marketing company based outside of the United States.
This gives it a unique advantage: first, it doesn’t sell products to customers in North America, choosing instead to capitalize on markets throughout Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa.
If you live in any of those countries and have always wanted to try out multilevel marketing, then Oriflame could be the excellent opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
On the other hand, if you live in North America and are looking for a new beauty product MLM to try, Oriflame isn’t it.
