LIMU Company Review (Quality Fucoidan Seaweed Products?)

Literally Loving Limu Drinks

Be healthy, make money. That's the basic premise of LIMU, a Florida-based MLM opportunity that's been in business just over a decade. To get a fresh, whole perspective on the LIMU experience, as it's proudly called by its executives, let's start from the bottom up, from the products to the founder, then the company as a whole and finally the Opportunity.

What is LIMU Selling?

LIMU sells energy drinks. The spearhead product is called “Original”. What makes it stand out from all the rest of the energy drink products on the market?

Fucoidan, a “sulfated polysaccharide and complex carbohydrate” found in seaweed which is called limu moui. The seaweed is supposedly rare and found in Tongan islands. Fucoidan has natural anti-inflammatory properties, as well as an anti-viral function. LIMU cites “over 1,000 independent studies” which cite Fucoidan, although it's not clear what's said about the substance in these studies. There's science there, in any case.

Bottles of LIMU Original contain 83% pure limu derived from Tongan seaweed via a chemical-free extraction process.

Key selling points:

  • chemical-free
  • 83% pure
  • seaweed (trendy in nutrition circles)
  • proprietary extraction process
  • no added sugar, artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors
  • exclusive worldwide rights to limu extraction in Tonga
  • refined in New Zealand in a government-inspected facility
  • LIMU produced in an FDA-inspected facility in the United States
  • limu is harvested with coral reef-protecting techniques

Other Products

There's also LIMU Energy®, geared towards sports drink consumers, and LEAN, for people trying to lose weight. It's a meal replacement shake that controls appetite.

The LIMU Company & Founder

Debt-free for over 10 years is the main source of pride for the LIMU company. They're still around, so that does say something.

Founder Gary Raser started from humble beginnings, like many direct-selling kingpins, but that's about all we find out from the website. Co-founder Greg Bennett's background is equally mysterious, as there's not a thing written about his experience, either.

Rowdy Gaines, on the other hand, is fully explained: as Brand Amabassador, he brings 25 world records plus 3 Olympic gold medals to the plate. We can only guess that the sport is swimming, since he's also named “Fastest Human in the Water Over the Age of Fifty”.

I'm telling you all this because celebrity endorsement means a lot to consumers, and it's nice to know LIMU has supplied their distributors with some leverage for marketing the products.

Speaking of distributors…

Selling LIMU as a Distributor: The Opportunity

Ranging from getting your product for free to promoting LIMU for paid commissions, there are of course several levels of involvement with LIMU.

You'll also find the enticements that seem to be becoming part of the standard MLM opportunity package:

  • free dream car
  • paid vacation
  • international convention

LIMU offers regional training for its distributors, something that's not standard. Here are the LIMU Compensation Plan details:

You get 20% commission on your customers, and 5% commission on your sponsors' customers. Get 3 customers and you get your own product for free. The rest is typical, with fast track bonuses and other incentives based on sales.

For example, First Rank (1K) looks like this:, which nets you $50 in Fast Track Bonus

  • attain monthly Autoship of 100PV or more
  • sponsor 2 distributors of your own, each with 100 PV or more in Autoship
  • Attain 1000 Organizational Volume (team volume)

Second Rank (2K), if reached within 30 days of signing up, gets you $200 bonus. you can purchase a $499 Fast Track Pack + sign up 3 people who also purchase the pack.

The bonuses get higher as you get more successful- nothing new here!

What's Great About LIMU

Love the product. The Opportunity is standard, but somehow the upper levels of a compensation plan always seem more attainable when the product is great. Seaweed is hot.

Exclusive “mining” rights is hot. Kingdom of Tonga, wherever that is, is hot.

There's so much to work with here, can't help but fall in love with all the marketing opportunities. The only caveat is what seems like a less-than-stellar support system. Backoffice gives you a web portal through which to sell LIMU, but you must pay for an upgrade to get more tools for managing your business.
