Tecademics Internet Marketing College

Internet Marketing College

Internet Marketing College is a brand new training program with a launch date of August 5, 2016. The program is designed to prepare you for a job or career in online marketing. Internet Marketing College also goes by the name TecAdemics and strives to deliver quality education in both business and Internet marketing. The idea behind the program is to provide a formal education for entrepreneurs for making money on the Internet, believing that similar educational forums do not exist.

The Tecademics Online University

Internet Marketing College is the brain child of Chris Record, a veteran of Internet marketing and online businesses. He began building websites in the late 1990s and went on to develop a successful SEO company. He embraced social marketing and began teaching others how to boost traffic, increase sales, and make money using the Internet. His interest in education and helping others led him to found a digital publishing company that focused on education. This eventually led him to create Internet Marketing College.

Record explains his reasons for creating the Internet Marketing College in a video on the program's website. The reasons are twofold. First, he wanted to bring more structure to the online education industry, believing that many of the top online colleges don't understand the proper way to teach people. Second, he felt there was a dearth of curriculum related to online marketing and the proper ways people can make money using the Internet. This lacking, he believes, has forced people to learn from the so-called gurus who split their time between teaching and selling. The result is a massive amount of information that people must sift through, unsure of what to believe and what not to believe in order to succeed.

Of course, most would consider Record to be one of these gurus although he does admit in the video that he considers himself part of the problem. Thus, he sought to understand the science to learning and implement it in Internet Marketing College. He consulted with both PhD level experts and those in Internet marketing to create a curriculum that included a foundation for learning that applied to Internet marketing, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. With that, the Internet Marketing College was born.

The Product

Unlike other online colleges and universities, the Internet Marketing College will actually be a physical university located in Phoenix, Arizona. Students will be able to attend classes in person or take them online. Record also pledges in the introductory video that the school will eventually expand to have physical campuses in other parts of the country, as well as in cities abroad. However, there appear to be no definite plans in the works, and so expansion of Internet Marketing College is likely dependent on the success of the initial venture in Phoenix.

Internet Marketing College will also differ from other universities in its schedule. Instead of semesters that last for weeks and months at a time, Internet Marketing College will be in session one week at a time, four times per year. During the week that school is in session, students will be able to take one or two classes. Each class will take roughly 30 hours over the course of the week. Each day of class will be broken down into four 90-minute segments with a break in between each of the four segments. Within those 90-minute blocks, the classes will be broken down further into a wide variety of lessons or presentations that will likely last 10 minutes or less. The frequent breaks and frequent topic changes will help the instructors cover a large amount of material, while helping students remain attentive over the course of a long day.

Record says that students at Internet Marketing College will be able to immediately apply the strategies they learn during a week of classes once they return to their jobs. When they return for their next week of class, students will be taught the next level of material, building upon what they learned during their first week of class. Each student will be different, but after three or four week-long classes, students should be at or close to a mastery of Internet marketing. This is on top of the networking opportunities students will be afforded simply by attending class and being given the chance to interact with others in their field.

The Opportunity

Internet Marketing College has three different levels of enrollment:

  • TEC – Allows access to the institution's Internet marketing forum as well as base-level training at a cost of $100 per month.
  • Impact – Provides an introduction to various areas of Internet marketing for a one-time fee of $2,000.
  • Masters Tuition – Covers in-person classes in Phoenix one week at a time four times per year at a one-time cost of $10,000. In addition to attending the classes in person, you also have access to recorded teaching sessions in case you can't travel to Arizona.

Internet Marketing College also has an affiliate program. For each person you enroll in the program, you will either receive 40% commission or share the commission with the affiliate who signed you up for the program, with each of you receiving 20%.

The Verdict

If nothing else, Internet Marketing College is an intriguing idea, and Record should be applauded for thinking up the concept and putting the wheels in motion. Many of the online, for-profit colleges and universities are deeply flawed in a number of ways, and Record appears to have gone to great lengths to ensure that teaching is a priority at this institution, which isn't always the case. The idea of formally teaching Internet marketing concepts and strategies that have become relevant in today's economy and job market is also quite progressive on the part of Record. The ideas behind Internet Marketing College definitely have potential, and Record certainly brings plenty of credibility to the table.

Of course, that does not make Internet Marketing College a slam-dunk idea. The program is new and has no track record of success. There also appears to be no clear advantage to being among the first to sign up and enroll in classes unless you think it'll put you far ahead of the curve. The affiliate marketing component to Internet Marketing College, while clearly not a scam compared to other multi-level marketing ventures, does make one think that Record is more concerned with making a profit than providing an education.

The bottom line is that Internet Marketing College will do no harm to someone who has the money to spend on it. In fact, there's a chance it could prove helpful to someone who works in Internet marketing or is pursuing a career in that field. But there is no reason to be in a rush to sign up for an unproven institution using an unproven method of learning. Internet Marketing College is worth keeping an eye on, but it's best to take a wait-and-see approach with it.
