YOR Health was founded in 2006. The company had relatively slow growth for the first few years but exploded with growth in 2010 and hasn’t really slowed down.
In 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, YOR Health was ranked as one of the Inc. 5000 fastest growing privately held companies in the United States, with its most recent ranking placing it at #1052 on the list. It achieved that ranking after steadily rising through the ranks year after year (#1665 in 2010, #1611 in 2011, and #1220 in 2012).
In 2014, YOR Health remained on the Inc. 5000 list, although it dropped down to #3528. According to Inc. 5000, the company has recorded 3 year growth of 93%, with 2013 revenue totaling $31 million and 2010 revenue totaling $16 million. It also employs a total of 41 people, with 17 jobs added over the past three years.
Clearly, YOR Health knows how to grow. The company is led by Stephen McColgan, M.D., M.B.A., Richard Couey, PhD, and former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL wide receiver Tim Brown, who spent 16 seasons with the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders organization.
YOR Health is currently based in Irvine, California.
Today, YOR Health claims to have directly created over 520,000 jobs across the United States. You might see a YOR Health representative near you: many members of the network drive around in flashy branded Smart Cars.
What Does YOR Health Sell?
YOR Health’s products are broken into four different categories, including:
— Weight Management
— Essentials
— Energy & Fitness
— Digestive Health
Each category has between 2 to 5 products. The Weight Management category, for example, has a meal replacement powder, a thermogenic fat burner, and a weight loss pill which claims to reduce appetite and encourage natural weight loss.
Other popular products include the YOR Essential Vitamin multivitamin supplement and the YOR Berry Blast energy powder, both of which can be used inside and outside the gym.
YOR Health Commission Structure and Compensation
YOR Health is surprisingly open and honest about its commission structure. It publishes full details about its commission and rewards program on the official YOR Health website. You can view the PDF document here.
Important things to know about the commission structure include:
— There are 14 ranks in total, ranging from Promoter at the very bottom to Triple Crown White Diamond at the very top
— There are two “Business Sets” available to new members, including the Promoter Set, which costs $545.08, and the Entrepreneur Set, which costs $1090.16
— You also need to pay $50 to sign up for YOR Health, and then an additional $100 every year. The $50 affiliate fee, however, is waived when you buy the $1090.16 Entrepreneur Set.
— You receive recruitment commission based on your rank as well as the amount the new affiliate spends when they sign up
— In addition to receiving standard commission on product orders (which works out to about 5%), you receive additional bonuses based on your overall group volume and personal retail volume
— If you become a 2K Promoter (rank two) within one month of signing up for YOR Health, you’re designated as a Rising Star and receive a bonus based on shared money from the Rising Star Bonus pool
Is YOR Health a Scam?
When you Google “YOR Health”, you’ll find plenty of results which argue that YOR Health is a scam. YOR Health isn’t technically a scam, although it is a traditional multilevel marketing business which uses a tiered commission structure – better known as a “pyramid scheme.”
I’m not going to sit here and explain why MLMs are or are not scams. However, if you don’t have a problem with MLMs, then you’ll find that YOR Health operates just like most other MLMs: if you’re a talented salesperson with good connections, then you’ll have success at any MLM. If not, you’re going to end up losing more money than you make.
YOR Health does have some shady practices which make it one of the least lucrative business opportunities in the MLM industry. YOR Health actually revealed how little its members make in a recent “income disclosure statement”, which is published as a PDF on the official YOR Health website.
In that PDF statement, you get to read interesting tidbits of information like:
“The median amount of commissions, bonuses, and overrides received by all independent representatives in YOR is $0.00. 59.96% of all independent representatives have received, in the aggregate, less than or equal to this amount.”
— The average weekly income for Promoters (which make up 70% of the YOR Health network) is $40.95, with the low end of that group making $0.10 per week.
When you read about YOR Health scams online, you typically find people arguing that YOR Health network members make very little money. These arguments are based on the PDF mentioned above.
Ultimately, YOR Health isn’t a scam: it very clearly outlines its policies, commission structure, and average income rates across its network. How you decide to use that information is up to you.
Conclusion: Is YOR Health Right for You?
If you’ve been looking for an MLM that focuses on nutritional supplements for men and women, then YOR Health might be it.
With a wide range of multivitamins, weight loss aids, protein powders, and more, YOR Health has a diverse range of products and an attractive commission structure – although the main problem is trying to sell premium-priced fitness supplements in a market that’s already crowded with lower-priced competitors.
