WiBOO

WiBOO

Wiboo started in Brazil about a year ago, and is just this year launching in the U.S. and globally.  It's a social network which has an advertising platform, and a business opportunity structured on a multi-level-marketing framework which allow partners to earn income.

Have you heard of WIBOO?  It's not the only contender for ending Facebook domination…there's also Tsu, Dubalu, and more…most offering members a share in the advertising.  That's something Facebook doesn't do and probably never will, what with shareholders and all.  Wiboo doesn't exactly offer a share in the revenues, but does offer chances to earn money.

Wiboo: The Company

ICANN Whois shows registrant Ivan Soares out of Sao Paulo, Brazil.  He registered the wiboo.info site August of 2014, which means even the Brazilian version of this company is brand spankin' new.

The company website, however, cites Vinicios Baragatti as the head developer or founder of the project.  The official company name is VM Franca Martins.

OK, so there are lot of people involved- from founders and programmers to investors and advisers.  Who's in charge?  Managing director “Mr. Emerson and Mr. Fields” (don't try to Google those names!).

The driving force behind Wiboo is attracting the multitudes of micro businesses in Brazil who haven't yet discovered the power of digital marketing…those will be the advertisers.

The Product

WIBOO the product: think of Facebook, only there's a scoring system that rates users based on how popular they are.  They call this the CLOUD.  Things that make you popular are:

  • followers
  • post shares
  • likes
  • level of daily use

The top of each user's feed features the “Hall of Fame”, which is profiles and photos of the most popular users.  You may also mark posts as “not good”, which I presume causes that user's popularity on the CLOUD to lose a few points.

The more popular you are, the more Network points you have, and the more Wiboo Coins you can earn.  These coins are used to make purchases on the e-commerce section of the Wiboo network.

How WIBOO Makes Money

Wiboo of course sells ads on its network.  They also support a rather complex gaming structure that brings in even more revenue.  “Social Games” are big on Facebook too, and Wiboo cites a figure of roughly $6.2 billion worldwide per year is made on social gaming.

Even though games are usually free to start playing, there are many low-cost add-ons and upgrades players may add.  This has been an extremely lucrative market for Facebook gaming programs.  With millions of consumers, those low-cost purchases add up to large profits.

For example, Candy Crush, a simple social game which generated $1.3 billion in 2013.

Brazil has turned out out to be the perfect market for this type of venture, with internet use on the rise.  Social network browsing is also on the rise in that country, with profit from social gaming reaching $238 million.

Wiboo features a type of network game that can be played after purchasing a $49 card.  Apparently you can stage “hacks” on other members' profiles or you can increase their popularity if you're feeling benevolent.  Sabotaging profiles comes in many different forms, from changing the picture to posting alarming photos on the user's screen.

The Business Opportunity

You can earn money by bringing advertisers into the Wiboo social network.  The buy-in is a “coin package”, available in four different sizes.  Sell the advertising packages (the coin packages) to small businesses and earn money.

  • Basic Plan.  Invite one person per month, get $25 per month
  • Advanced Plan.  Invite 3 people per month/get $75
  • Premium Plan.  Invite 9 people per month/get $250
  • Plus Plan.  Invite 10 people per month/get $500

You also get a Direct Sales Bonus (10% of the package price) when your enrollees sell plans:

  • Basic plan: $3.30
  • Advanced plan: $10
  • Premium plan: $33
  • Plus plan: $82

You also get residual income on a binary structure plus bonuses to be earned.

The Verdict

I think Wiboo has to potential to be a great hit in Brazil, where digital marketing seems to be in its infancy stage for most small business owners.  However, in the US they'll find a tougher, more competitive and savvy market, already aware of options available to them.  The English version of Wiboo isn't just for Americans, however.  It's the “global” version of the original Brazilian Wiboo, and it may well work in less technically savvy countries.
