UBox Live

Ubox Live

Ubox Live is a plug-n-play device for your TV which allows you to manage all your media hosted services from one convenient location. Customers get movies and TV shows on demand, plus internet. Distributors get the chance to earn income and build a business. Let's take a deeper look into both the product and the opportunity and see what it's all about.

The Company

Lots of mystery here. A Whois lookup at ICANN reveals a private registration at Domains by Proxy…which is revealing nothing. We can only tell that the uboxlive.com website was registered January of 2015. Plus, they bought their domain through GoDaddy, which isn't the most savvy of places for a business to be buying their domains.

The Ubox live website lists “Uway LLC” as the contact organization. This is listed at once as…

  1. a plastics extrusion company in China
  2. a packaging supplies company out of LA
  3. a technology company out of Norcross, GA

Whether Ubox Live is associated with any of these is anyone's guess, but probably it's not. They're located in Newport Beach, CA and seems like they should have researched their name a bit more to see if it was already taken.

All videos of the product (well there's just one) feature one guy, whose name is never given. He has an American accent.

The Ubox Product

If you know what Netflix is, then you already have an idea of how Ubox Live works. As you know, you need a computer to view Netflix. Well Ubox allows you to bypass the computer and simply watch TV without commercials and movies, plus over 1000 channels on your TV. You also get radio stations and a karaoke program, plus adult films. There are international channels, pay per view events, live TV, and access to Disney movies and cartoons.

Ubox pretty much serves to transform any TV set into a Smart TV. All you need is a pretty fast internet connection and you're good to go. Ubox connects to the back of your TV via an HDMI cable. HDMI cables are the all-purpose, universal cables which allow devices from any manufacturer to “speak” to each other for media solutions in your home. HDMI allows super high quality transfer of video files up to 1080p, flawlessly. It's what you'd also use to connect a stereo system to your TV to make your own surround-sound system.

So, as you can see this is a great product, as more and more entertainment options are now coming from the Internet rather than cable TV. The world is slowly moving away from hideously expensive cable TV service and towards broadband-delivered movies, TV, radio, and more.

The Ubox retail price is $399, which is peanuts considering it will allow the consumer to ditch their monthly cable service. As you may know, cable is upwards of $100 per month now! Ubox should be an easy sell.

The Opportunity

To become a Ubox distributor, the buy-in is $50. You may choose to buy the product plus the distributorship, or just forgo the product and apply for the $50 distributor package. Here's what you get:

  • You get wholesale pricing
  • You get overrides on direct sales
  • You get residual income
  • You get unlimited training and support

Downlines feed our income down to 7 levels. For level 1 (that's you), you get $15 commission per Ubox sold. That's pretty good! Here's how the subsequent levels go:

  1. Level 1 (you): $150 per Ubox sold
  2. Level 2: (10 members): $20 commission per Ubox sold by your level 2 people
  3. Level 3: $10 commission
  4. Levels 4 & 5: $5 commission
  5. Level 6: $3 commission
  6. Level 7: $7 commission

The Verdict

Ubox live is like Roku, but without the monthly fee. It's an up-front cost of $399, which makes me think it's a “get 'em while you can before they figure out they don't need this” type of deal. After all, smart TVs will do this for you, with no box interface required at all. The mystery behind who owns and runs Ubox is disconcerting, so at this point I'm feeling just a little wary.

I am familiar with both this product and the ownership. The owners are American (there are at least a few in total) and they have offices in Newport Beach as you state and also in Irvine. What you didnt mention in your post is that you also get movie channels like those on HBO or Showtime and the choice of streaming network locals is so cool. I had both the roku and a smart tv and this does way more for free. I have only had it for 4 weeks, but it is really awesome. btw- there are several videos, I just looked and information about the company. Thanks, we love your site.

The problem with this product is that you can get something similar maybe even better for around $50 on Ebay, my brother in law bought one, and like I said, is as good or better than the Ubox Live.

I have been reading reviews on the Ubox all evening. You are the 2nd person that mentioned that there is something available that is better or as good with no monthly fee, but you fail to name it. If true, what is this other product
