Send Out Cards Review (MLM Opportunity or Pyramid Scheme?)

A good networking opportunity begins with a great product. Combine that with a brilliant marketing scheme and you've got a winner.

If there's only a so-so product, sometimes a brilliant marketer can take it and market the heck out of it, ending up with a pretty good income. It's not exactly a winner, but it's some income.

Then there's third situation where you've got a great product, a great marketing plan, and alas, only a so-so compensation plan.

Send Out Cards is a great product and only you know your marketing skills. It's the compensation plan that has us worried.

Best Product Ever

Gotta love the concept: it's unique, useful, global, appealing, and widely marketable to people from all walks of life. Who doesn't want to reach out and send a real card? It's like social media- reach out to people you know but don't see every day.

These are not e-cards…they're real paper, real envelopes, real stamps and real custom messages complete with the customer's signature, if desired.

It's the power of social media combined with the “novelty” of old-world charm of the mailed greeting card. Customers can upload their own photos, keep their hand-written signature on file for inserting in their cards, and choose from thousands of designs.

Sendcere

Sendcere is Send Out Cards' Pinterest-like website for showcasing card designs. Account holders can share, send, and comment on the designs, just like Pinterest. Another great idea.

Unique, Cost-Effective

You can design your own cards on Cafe Press, but they're not going to send them out for you. Nowhere else on the internet did we find another option for this service.

The cost per card is roughly $1.98 plus postage and you can send them internationally, too. There's an a la cart menu of extras, like customizing your card, adding photos, etc.

The Opportunity

Yes, we're all about the product. The compensation plan has us mystified however. You can become an Independent Distributor for $50. This just gives you the chance to sell SOC on your own website without getting sued for license infringement. You'll pay an annual renewal fee of $50 or $59.

You're going to have to sell hundreds of cards to cover that fee..but then again what did you expect? You're working with a $2 product here.

So, more so than any other MLM opportunity, the money lies in getting others to sign up. There's a higher buy-in level called Marketing Distributor, which costs $395. Get a few people to become MDs and you've got some nice $140 bonuses.

Signing up a Preferred Customer within a week of joining will net you $50. So will enrolling 2 Retail Customers. This is called the Fast Start Bonus.

If anyone in your downline moves up in the ranks, you get good money, too: $100 to Managers, for example.

That's nice, but for long-term success, it's not enough. How long before you run out of people who'll become MDs for you? This is not a regional, local or in-person opportunity with a product that's better in real life. This is not essential oils, where there's lots of information for the customers to absorb, making in-person meetings an essential part of distribution.

No, there are simple greeting cards that require no explanation, no meetings, no local gatherings to make them work. Therefore, we see the “enrolling” opportunity as limited…your leads will quickly dry up, we predict.

Here's How it Could Work…

There's only one reason we can see this really working out: and that's if a distributor pounds the pavement and gets businesses to buy large packs of cards to send out.

Doctors, sales people, real estate professionals…they all send out regular mailings to their customers as part of their marketing campaigns. If a distributor has a lot of good hot leads in this area, then success may be within his or her grasp.

The MLM that Looks Like a Pyramid for No Good Reason

So, what typically defines a pyramid scheme is that there's no real product. That's not the case here. In the case of SOC, there's actually a great product…only it's painstakingly slow to make big bucks unless you start signing up professionals for bulk orders.
