Scentsy Review

Love candles but hate the threat of burning down your house? Scentsy makes scented “candles” you plug in, warm up and enjoy with no thought of danger or indoor pollution.

Scent is a powerful thing…it can make people recall far-away places and fond memories in an instant. It can soothe and cause happiness. And for people who've discovered the positive effects of scent and the magical, addictive properties it contains..scent can be a way to earn income.

The Scentsy Products

The main product is scented candle warmers and wax. A small container of scented wax is heated from below by a low-watt bulb or a special warmer, and your room fills with wonderfully scented fragrance.

Wickless candles are made in the U.S.A. at Scentsy's own facility, while the ceramic warmers are made in China. There are 2 catalogs a year, allowing for continuous replenishing of exciting new products.

Everything Scentsy is about fragrance, of course. There are currently over 80 different fragrances! Here are the spinoff products they also sell:

  • room sprays
  • fresheners
  • laundry products
  • soap & sanitizer
  • Buddies…stuffed animals with Scent Paks in them.

For the average woman, there's hardly a product in the Scentsy range of offerings that's not completely irresistible. Yes, this is mainly a women's world, and believe you me, women spend a LOT of money on this sort of stuff every year (we're talking like over $2 billion annually).

The Scentsy Company

You might have heard of Scentsy, even if you don't care what your home smells like. It's been around since 2004 and made a big name for itself. They are now international, have a 157,000-square foot office space in Idaho, and a distribution center even bigger to handle all the sales. There's now even a Scentsy Campus complete with its own rail line. They're included on the Inc 500 list, have raised over $600,000 for charity.

This is a bona-fide successful company. The Scentsy website tells the complete history of the founders Orville Thompson and his wife Heidi Braucht.

With new products like scented greeting cards and the Buddies mentioned above, the world just keeps opening up for this company.

The Scentsy Buy-In

It's $99 to start as an Independent Distributor of Scentsy products, which by the way is the only way they're sold. That $99 gets you a starter kit containing everything you need to host a party.

That also gets you your first 3 months of free website ($10 after that), an admin panel for your business, live phone support and great training.

The Scentsy Compensation Plan

The base level commission is 20% on your own personal retail sales. Attain 1000 in personal retail volume and that goes up to 25% commission. Once you get a group in place and their wholesale volume reaches 1000 and yours is at least 500 (and by “group” we mean at least one downline)…you can earn that 25% commission plus 2% on group wholesale volume + 2% on special bonuses.

Then it “ladders” upwards from there, up to a a top level called “SuperStar Director”, with 3 active frontline consultants and 4 First Generation Directors.

As you can see, the Scentsy income structure is not about downline volume but rather on sales of product. That's what you typically find when you're dealing with a legit company with real products that really sell.

There are all-expense paid trips to far-off exotic tropical locales to strive for, no inventory to deal with and an endless supply of customers as their older products run out and they need more.

The “Take-Away”

Tap into the (mostly) girly network of (flameless) candle lovers and you've got yourself an up-front, valid way to earn money…because Scentsy isn't a scheme and it's not a fly-by-night product. We LOVE the product, we love the scented candle culture they've successfully marketed, and we love the company. Scented products are the perfect items for marketing at home parties where guests can see them in action. It's hard not to get excited about this opportunity… unless you're a man, of course!
