Norwex MLM Home Cleaning Chemical Free Products Review

Norwex Review

Like many health-conscious homeowners, I'm concerned about indoor pollutants and the impact of cleaning chemicals in my life. I also know a ton of women who are careful about ingredients in personal care items like moisturizers and shampoo.

Norwex products are for people like me and the growing number of people like my friends who don't want to put harmful chemicals on their skin through their skin care products.

It's also a home-based business opportunity for people who'd like to host a Norwex party in their homes, or for people who want to get more serious about Norwex and become a distributor.

Norwex, the Company

The “Nor” in Norwex stands for Norway, where the company started in 1994. We're happy they changed their name from the original name, which was Eidsvoll Miljoprodukter.

Founder Bjorn Nicolaisen stumbled upon what was then a new-fangled kind of cloth, the microfiber cloth. He actually used it to get stubborn bugs off his windshield with nothing but water and thus the company was born.

Mr. Nicolaisen was impressed by the fact that no chemicals were required to loosen and remove those stuck-on bugs and so developed an entire line of “cleaning without chemicals” products for the home.

Turns out his timing was impeccable, since at that time in the mid-1990s a chem-free, organic movement was about to sweep the world. Now, Norwex products are sold in the USA, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Australia. In 2011 they introduced personal care products. 2014 represented Norwex's 20th year in business so it's safe to say this is a secure company with a good product.

The Products

Norwex products are manufactured according to strict ingredient standards, under the motto “every home should be a safe haven”. The simple fact that their key product, the microfiber cloth, can be used to clean without chemicals attests to this credo.

Their actual cleaning products follow this motto as well. They contain ingredients derived from natural botanicals. How do they get the job done? By employing enzymes rather than harsh chemicals.

The skincare products are certified as safe and derived from renewable resources by third-party organizations such as Ecocert and NaTrue. Ecocert in particular certifies two levels: organic cosmetics and natural cosmetics, meaning products are free from all the nasty things women are now shunning in cosmetics like Parabens, PEG, silicon, and synthetic perfumes and dyes.

The organic/natural cosmetic movement is more than a trend- it's growing by the minute and taking hold as a permanent phenomenon in markets all over the world.

The Business Opportunity

There are two ways to get involved-

  1. Host Parties. This is a home party structure, where members can host a Norwex party in order to earn free product.
  2. Become a consultant. Now you're the boss of the party-throwers, covering a regional area and helping people throw parties in order to earn income.

Hosts

Have a party, talk up the benefits of Norwex products, and try to make sales. The compensation structure is typical:

  • 5 buying guests nets you a free Envirocloth™
  • 8 buying guests nets you the above plus a free Body Cloth with BacLock™
  • 10 buying guests nets you the above plus a Car Cloth
  • 13 buying guests nets you the above plus a Dust Mitt
  • 15 buying guests nets you the above plus a Kitchen Scrub Cloth
  • Sell up to $250 and get 8% in free product
  • Sell up to $750 and get 10% in free product
  • Sell over $750 and get 12% in free product
  • For each party booked you earn a free Window Cloth
  • Earn a monthly special when someone at your party buys $325 or more

Consultant

Remain active as a consultant by placing at least $250 in sales within 3 months. You are not allowed to sell Norwex products on eBay or other online auction sites. For $9.99 per month you get a Norwex website with back office and an eNewsletter to send out.

  • Earn 35% commission on parties you hold with a Host
  • Earn monthly commission
  • Starter kit costs $200 but this can be waived if you make sales of at least $2,000 in your first 90 days

The Verdict

Love the idea of a chem-free life, love the 35% commission for consultants. Don't love the $200 buy-in but that's product so you should get it all back.
