What if you were told you could lose weight and rev up your metabolism with only a 7-minute workout? You’d probably get pretty excited.
I have actually known about Joel Therien’s 7 Minute Workout for some time now – but did not know it had an affiliate or referral marketing side to it.
Being a natural health advocate and avid ‘workout from home’ kinda guy – I was always inventing new exercise routines and regimes that I liked..But then I tried this work out, using their mobile app and challenge and it definitely added another element that was missing from “working out by myself”.
Up until now, no such online workout program has existed quite like Joel’s. However, there are other mentionings of a standard 7 Minute Workout of which researchers published an article in the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health & Fitness Journal with a brand new workout that is combines core exercises with high-intensity training for a seven minute stretch of hell as most people call it.
What is exciting about this particular program is that you only need to do it at least 3x per week for 7 minutes total each! That’s a commitment anyone can keep!
How to perform the 7-minute workout
The 7-minute workout consists of 12 different exercises, all of which are completed for 30 seconds at an intense pace.
To complete the workout, you’ll need a chair and a sturdy wall – that’s it.
To start, you’ll need to do jumping jacks for 30 seconds before going to the wall and performing wall sits for another 30 seconds.
You then move to push-ups for thirty seconds and keep going on and on until all twelve exercises are complete. The full list of exercises, in order is this:
1. Jumping jacks
2. Wall sits
4. Abdominal crunch
7. Triceps dip
9. High-knees (running in place)
11. Pushup and rotation
12. Side plank
Once completed, you should feel absolutely exhausted. If you need rest, you can do so by resting for only ten seconds in between exercises, no more. If you rest longer, you’ll ruin the workout and it will largely become ineffective.
Does the 7-Minute Workout really work?
You might be skeptical about the 7-minute workout. It’s understandable. However, a significant amount of research has shown that a few minutes of high intensity training is just as beneficial as spending a long period of time running or riding your bike.
Chris Jordan, the director of the study, says that there is very good evidence that high-intensity training provides many of the same benefits of endurance training in half the time. Therefore, there’s no real need to spend hours at the gym on a treadmill or stationary bike when you get the same effects in only 7 minutes.
The other thing beneficial about this program is that the order of the exercises is specifically meant to give your major muscle groups a slight rest. For example, you’re working your arms and shoulders while performing jumping jacks and then you’re working your legs next. This gives your upper body a rest just in time for pushups. This enables you to perform the entire workout at maximum intensity, which will rev up your metabolism.
Is the 7 Minute Workout Worth Trying?
Most people find treadmills or stationary bikes very boring.
The 7MinuteWorkout seems to be a great way to avoid having to spend so much time at the gym for the same effects.
If you’re just looking for something new or just don’t have much time to go to the gym, you should definitely consider the 7-minute workout.
The evidence is there to support it and who knows, maybe you’ll love it.
