The business world can actually be for everyone.
People of all different backgrounds (entrepreneurs or not) are managing to successfully embrace this path and insert themselves and their careers into the business world.
Being able to successfully pursue this path means that an individual focuses on what I call a “triple bottom line”.
While a majority of business endeavors have normally only ever focused on one motive- profit- there is much more that should be included in the bigger picture.
I have transformed the concept of “The Bottom Line”, which is otherwise known as profit, into the concept of “The Triple Bottom Line”.
In a business that wholeheartedly embraces the concept of the “triple bottom line”, their ultimate purpose, mission, and driving force does not just revolve around the concept of making money, but instead focuses on the greater good as well.
In this concept, there are three bottom lines that must also be focused on: people, profit, and the planet. A business should focus on serving all three of these things, and each of them should always be maximized as successfully as possible.
A person is considered to be a visionary entrepreneur or social entrepreneur when they are able to successfully incorporate the triple bottom line into the heart of their business plan. If his or her ultimate purpose is more than just profit, and is instead focusing on the betterment of the overall world, he or she is no normal businessman.
They are quite a few social entrepreneurs in this world who don’t even focus on making money at all. In general, these kinds of entrepreneurs usually work for non-profits. Instead of focusing on how much money they are able to make, they focus on how big of an impact that they can have on the world. Although this is incredibly honorable and many people believe it is one of the best career routes that you can take, my personal opinion is that individuals should also focus on earning a nice income as well.
If an enterprise is both sustainable and scalable, and thus is able to grow and continue indefinitely, the magnitude of the positive impact that it can have on the world is truly endless. Additionally, this impact also has the potential to last longer than any one person who helped create the business or non-profit and then run it.
An enterprise that will truly be successful is one that is profitable enough for you to dedicate all of your time towards it. If a business or organization is unable to remain afloat unless it drains your finances or receives a steady stream of donations from outside parties, it will be inefficient, and it will not be able to focus on its positive impact as much as it should.
In contrast, if your business is both prosperous and profitable, you will be able to completely devote your time to it without having to worry about the distraction of money and funding. Businesses that are constantly losing money require that its employs consistently fundraise and lobby for funds.
My goal is to see you being paid generously for having a career that involves changing the world. This career will allow you to continue on the changemaker path that you are currently pursuing, and will ensure that you can continue to devote yourself to work that will have a positive impact on the world around you.
