Working For Production and Distribution Optimization

It is common knowledge that the food industry and public health generally go hand in hand in regards to cause and effect. Foods have a very large impact on the average individual’s health, and many people generally fail to realize this. Over half of the foods that the world regularly consumes make us sick, and this equates to a large portion of the population being in poor health.

This is a very large number of people who are unable to positively contribute to society, our work force, and the reformation of our systems. Additionally, having this many people in poor health also puts a substantial strain on the world’s health care systems, which is never a good thing. These strains are costly to all of us, and barely anyone benefits.

Additionally, very few people are actually aware of the strain that the modern food industry also has on the environment. The way that we handle the production and distribution of massive food products and crops is incredibly unsustainable, and it depletes our resources each and every day. The food industry is actually one of the biggest creators of pollution in this world. It also is one of the biggest consumers of water, energy, and many other important resources that we all too often take for granted.

Agriculture is naturally a necessity for life, but at what cost? If we do not start reforming our agricultural systems soon, we will have no resources left to live off of. We currently are on a very slippery slope, and the scariest part is that so many people in this world are not even aware that it is an issue.

As a good friend of mine constantly tells me, the agriculture industry needs an entire food revolution. Every aspect of it truly is in dire need of reform, and we can no longer afford to avoid this issue. This is a problem that affects each and every one of us, and we all have a responsibility to help solve it.

Just like relationships, consciousness, and awareness, the food industry is another career path that will enable you to have a major positive impact on the world. And, because the food industry will not be going away anytime soon, as all humans and other life forms must eat in order to survive, there will always be job opportunities for you to pursue.

There are many ways for you to help out in this industry, and a majority of these career choices are actually quite lucrative. You can choose to own or work for a health restaurant, work for a sustainable health food store, farm, become a nutrition consultant or coach, cook, host your own cooking classes, organize local gardens, work for a grassroots farming organization, help organize urban roof-top gardens, and work with co-ops. The number of opportunities that there are for you to pursue truly is endless.

In addition to all of these career paths, there is also a very large movement involving the lobbying of legislators and constituents to help change corrupt laws that focus on businesses rather than the well being of the environment. These laws have the maximization of corporate profits in mind rather than sustainability, and they must be changed if we ever want to save our resources and earth. Activists are constantly needed for this movement, and you may very well find that your calling is being one of them.
