This may be one of the most important questions that you ever ask yourself. There is a never-ending number of ways to change the world, and you should never choose which one you are going to partake in simply because society has made you think that it is what you ‘should’ do. You should instead select what career you are going to have based off of what you are passionate about. Being good at something is not always enough, as you will eventually lose interest in your industry as time passes. Passion, however, will remain for an extensive period of time.
If you genuinely love what you do for a living, it will show in your work. You will be excited to go into the office each day, and you will do everything that you can to excel in your niche. This passion will directly translate into how large of a positive impact that you have on the world, and you will be able to do more good just by having it. And, if you are lucky enough to be passionate about something that you also happen to be talented at, the situation truly could not get better.
If you are genuinely passionate about a specific cause and care deeply for it, you will be able to overcome quite a lot of hurdles. You will have the determination to move through adversity and maturely deal with those who oppose you. You will be able to move past your lack of experience, and still accomplish your goals despite it. And, lastly, you will be able to be successful despite your lack of skills or knowledge. All of these things can be acquired over time, as long as you are both passionate and committed to the niche that you are working in.
While these problems may appear to be large for small individuals, if you genuinely care about the causes that you are working with, they will only be drops in the bucket. Passion has the ability to overcome a multitude of things, and if you are dedicating your life to helping others and solving the world’s problems, having it is absolutely essential. When it comes to this industry, it truly can wind up making all of the difference with your work.
However, if passion is your only asset in regards to your career, you are going to come up against quite a few brick walls. Although passion is essential, you will flounder if you do not at least have some skills and experience as well. This does not mean that you necessarily need to have a natural talent for whatever you choose to dedicate your life towards doing, but it does mean that you need to at least know what you are getting yourself into. If you choose a path that you have at least some experience with, and you also happen to love whatever niche it is in, you will be set.
